Amin Amraei, CEO of Marun Petrochemicals, has highlighted the advantages of the Iran Plast exhibition compared to similar foreign exhibitions and said: This exhibition is a way of showing the achievements of Iran’s petrochemical industry to both domestic and foreign customers. He said in a situation where the country is under international sanctions, Iranian experts in the industry are doing their best to overcome the crisis. He also noted that more than 28 foreign companies and guests from all over the world were present at the 18th Iran Plast exhibition. Amraei also added Iran managed to make great progress despite sanctions and embargos on the country.

With regards to the support of the 14th government and the new petroleum minister to the petrochemical industry in the fields of feed supply and feed pricing, he said all these issues are among the expectations of the petrochemical industry from the government. He said the most important service of Pezeshkian administration to the petrochemical industry is supporting plans to complete the value chain in the value-creating industry. That’s because the survival of economic enterprises in the petrochemical industry is tied to the development of the value chains.
Amraeei also noted that the absence of value chains will hinder the progress of this industry even if the feed rate and utility rate are adjusted. He said it is definitely necessary for the petrochemical industry that the price and feed have suitable attractive conditions to attract foreign and domestic investors. He also urged stability in this industry to attract investments from the private sector.
Market and product diversity at Marun’s Petrochemical agenda
Regarding the company’s strategy for sustainable feedstock supply, Amraei said sustainable feed supply is part of Marun Petrochemical’s long-term strategy. He said the company receives gas along with oil in its cooperation with the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), but based on previous agreements, the company is now investing in the upstream sector. He said the company is taking a series of actions in the development, repair, maintenance, and improvement of NGLs that supply the feed of Marun petrochemical.
On the position of knowledge-based companies and artificial intelligence(AI) in the Marun petrochemical program, he said the company is doing a lot on this issue. He said a huge part of the country’s self-sufficiency in the supply and production of catalysts and manufacturing parts, especially in the field of rotary, is due to knowledge-based companies. He said in the issue of artificial intelligence, which has been raised by the leader of the Islamic Revolution, the duty of the government is to obey this order.
The CEO of Marun Petrochemicals added the company recently organized a training course for its colleagues in Japan and a training workshop attended by one of the international professors about the application of the category of artificial intelligence. He noted that artificial intelligence will really make competition in the future difficult for companies that do not use this phenomenon and this technology. Therefore, in Marun Petrochemical, new ideas have been taken up with the aim of using new technologies and artificial intelligence. He further said the company has used university professors in the form of the board of directors and CEO, and this step taken by Marun Petrochemical will bring great results in the future.
Regarding Marun Petrochemical’s export market diversification strategy, Amraei said in the category of export market, every company has its own strategies, but one of the matters considered by Marun Petrochemical’s shareholders and board of directors was market diversification. He noted that the company is doing a lot to diversify its markets and products. The company has produced a new grade that had many successful results in polypropylene, and in the field of heavy polyethylene (HDPE), measures have also been taken. In general, both market diversity and product diversity are two important agendas of Marun Petrochemical.
